Please note the note on the applicable legal version.

The Reichsknappschaftsgesetz (RKG) was the legal basis for miners' social insurance in Germany from 1924 to 1991 .

The RKG was fundamentally changed several times and also adapted to changed situations under pension law , for example with the Knappschaftsrentenversicherungs- Neuegelungsgesetz (KnVNG) of May 21, 1957 ( Federal Law Gazette I p. 533).

The regulatory content of the RKG was incorporated, among other things, together with that of the Salaried Employees Insurance Act and parts of the Reich Insurance Code on January 1, 1992 in SGB VI , which still provides for some miners' special features. The introductory law to the Reichsknappschaftsgesetz of June 23, 1923 ( RGBl. I p. 454) accompanying the RKG became practically inapplicable on January 1, 1992.
