Front Austria around 1780
  • Oberamt Altdorf
  • The Landvogtei Schwaben , from 1750 Oberamt Altdorf , belonged to Upper Austria and was thus part of the Habsburg Empire . After the end of the Duchy of Swabia, it came to Austria as the Reichslandvogtei in Upper and Lower Swabia in 1541 and remained there until 1805.

The Landvogtei comprised areas from the eastern north shore of Lake Constance via the Schussental ( Waldsee ) to the Ostalb ( Schelklingen , the city of Riedlingen ), and also in the Western Allgäu the area around the imperial city of Leutkirch im Allgäu (Gebrazhofen). The Landvogtei was divided into an Upper Landvogtei and a Lower Landvogtei . The seat of the Upper Landvogtei was Altdorf (today Weingarten).

After the Peace of Bratislava on December 26, 1805, the Altdorf Upper Office fell to the Kingdom of Württemberg . The Gebrazhofen office initially to the Kingdom of Bavaria , but then also to Württemberg in 1810. Due to the Paris border treaty between Bavaria and Württemberg of 1810, the city of Ravensburg also became part of Württemberg, and the Oberamt Ravensburg emerged from the Oberamt Altdorf .
