Reichstag files

The plan for the edition of the German Reichstag files (RTA) of the Reichstag of the Holy Roman Empire was developed in 1859 by Georg Voigt in the historical journal, probably at the suggestion of Heinrich von Sybel . It was brought into being in 1858 by Leopold von Ranke . The first volume appeared in 1867, edited by Julius Weizsäcker . It is a central edition project of sources on the history of the early modern period in Germany. It has been published by the Historical Commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences in Munich since it was founded .

The edition makes a selection of the files that were created in preparation and implementation of the Reichstag, and prints them partly only as regest and partly also with their full texts.
