Majestica is a Swedish symphonic / power metal band from Boden , which was founded in 2000 in Umeå as ReinXeed .
Band history
ReinXeed was founded as a band in 2000. In addition to a website, some demo recordings were made , but the rest of the members lost interest in the band at some point. Tommy Johansson then continued the band as a solo project under the pseudonym Tommy ReinXeed.
In 2008 he met Christian Liljegren (ex- Narnia ) who signed him for Rivel Records . The first album The Light (2008) was created with drummer Jani Stefanović . The rest of the instruments were recorded by Johansson himself in his home studio. Officially, however, Matthias Lindgren was listed as the drummer, who played on the next album Higher , but left the band because of his main band Royal Jester . On the album Higher , Johansson engaged guest musicians for the first time and moved the center of the band to Boden. The albums Majestic (2010) and 1912 (2011) followed with alternating guest musicians .
Then published Tommy Johansson Compilation Swedish Hitz Goes Metal , where he hits the Swedish band ABBA , Roxette and Ace of Base coverte . He had already published various cover versions on YouTube . The album Welcome to the Theater followed in 2012 on Liljegren Records.
After Tommy Johansson joined the Swedish power metal band Sabaton in 2016 as a guitarist, the band took a break .
In June 2019 the last ReinXeed line-up (Johannsson, Oriz and David), supported on drums by Uli Kusch , released the album Above the Sky under the new band name Majestica .
Music and reception
Majestica's musical style is symphonic power metal in the style of the pioneering bands Dragonforce , Kamelot , Sonata Arctica and Rhapsody of Fire . Additional sources of inspiration are soundtracks and the music of the 1980s, such as Gary Moore and Robby Valentine . The music contains choirs and is more in the fast tempo range. Music critics often criticize the lack of independence. The band is particularly successful in Japan.
