Reiner Braun (politician)

Reiner Braun (born November 25, 1948 in Brebach-Fechingen ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

education and profession

After attending the Güdingen elementary school , Braun switched to the state secondary school in Saarbrücken and then studied German and social studies at the Saarland University for teaching at grammar schools. He then worked as a teacher, most recently as a senior lecturer at the technical and industrial vocational training center in Völklingen .

politics

Braun has been a member of the SPD since 1972. Since 2000 he has been state chairman of the working group for education and a member of its federal committee.

From 1974 Braun was a member of the Kleinblittersdorf local council , since 1984 as chairman of his parliamentary group. He was the mayor of Rilchingen-Hanweiler from 1989 to 2014.

He had been a member of the Saarland Landtag since the ninth legislative period - he replaced the late Ludwig Triem in 1988 . In the state parliament he had been the education policy spokesman for his parliamentary group since 1988. From 1988 to 1990 and 1999 to 2004 he was Chairman of the Committee on Education, Culture and Science. From October 2004 he chaired the European Committee. In 2008 he was elected Vice President of the Saarland State Parliament. In 2014 he said goodbye to active politics.

Personal

Braun is Protestant, married and has a grown daughter.
