Pure Dick

Reiner Dick (born September 27, 1940 in Duisburg ; † March 13, 1974 in Vaals , Netherlands ) was Professor of Business Administration at the University of Dortmund .

biography

Dick studied business administration at the University of Cologne from 1960 to 1964 . There he did his doctorate with Erich Gutenberg with a thesis on the process planning of flow production . After completing his doctorate, he stayed for two years as a research assistant at the seminar for general and industrial business administration in Cologne. After Gutenberg's retirement in 1968, Dick went to the Technical University of Aachen to work with Prof. Dr. H.-J. Zimmermann at the chair for corporate research. In Aachen , Dick completed his habilitation in mid-1972 with a thesis on quantitative models for solving business location problems and their classification in a decision-oriented location theory . He was appointed Scientific Councilor and Professor of Business Administration at the University of Dortmund on August 1, 1973.

Dick's research dealt primarily with business planning, in particular electronic data processing and operations research .

Dick died in 1974 at the age of 33. His grave is located in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hall 55).
