Reinhard Nagel

Reinhard Nagel (born February 21, 1927 in Berlin ; † January 12, 2009 ) was a German medic .

Life

Reinhard Nagel studied medicine at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Free University of Berlin . In 1953 he passed his state examination; In 1954 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. From 1953 to 1961 he completed his specialist training at the Westend Hospital (today: DRK Kliniken Berlin ). In 1961 he became senior physician in the urological clinic of the Free University of Berlin, at the same time he was offered a professorship for urology at the University of Cologne and head of the urology department at the surgical clinic. From 1969 to 1995 he was full professor of urology and director of the urological clinic and polyclinic of the Free University at the Charlottenburg Clinic, and from 1993 at the Rudolf Virchow Clinic .

Act

Nagel became famous for his research into kidney transplants and the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer .

He was involved in the Berlin Urological Society (honorary member), the Association of North German Urologists, the German Society for Urology and as a co-founder of the European Society for Urology (EAU). he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the C.-E. Alken and namesake as well as chairman of the Reinhard Nagel Foundation of the German Society for Urology.
