Reinhard Philipp Friedrich von Degenfeld (born November 2, 1722 in Ehrstädt ; † December 16, 1784 ibid) was the landlord of the Eulenhof , to Ehrstädt, Waibstadt and Unterbiegelhof . From 1766 until his death he was a senior in the Degenfeld-Neuhaus condominium .

Life

He was the eldest son of Christoph Ferdinand I von Degenfeld (1699–1766) and Clara Juliana von Gemmingen-Aries (1699 / 1700–1766). From 1760 onwards, the father had reunited the entire Degenfeld-Neuhaus property, but also started a protracted dispute with the Ehrstädt community, with the feudal farms and with the knightly canton of Kraichgau , Reinhard Philipp Friedrich and his own due to his autocratic rule over the subjects two younger brothers Christoph Ferdinand III. Friedrich (1739–1812) and Christoph Eberhard Friedrich (1737–1792) inherited the family property.

When the inheritance was divided, Reinhard Philipp Friedrich received the Eulenhof and the family's own property in Waibstadt and Unterbiegelhof, Christoph Eberhard Friedrich II received Neuhaus Castle and Christoph Ferdinand III. received the Württemberg and the Worms half of Ehrstädt. After property disputes had shaped the image of the family in the previous generations, the establishment of a condominium now ensured greater unity among the brothers in addition to the family entailment commission that applies to property . In 1774, a comparison was made between the Degenfeld brothers and the Ehrstädt community, which regulated the relationship between local rule and subjects for a long time.

He lived mostly on the family's free aristocratic estate in Waibstadt, which was then in a poor structural condition. The Eulenhof, where he would have liked to move, was even worse, which is why he had an appraisal of the structural condition made in 1779. The report by the master builder Franz-Joseph Remlinger from Grombach and the master craftsman Johann Lorenz Huber from Wimpfen was, however, devastating, as it certified that the old Eulenhof was no longer suitable for residential purposes and could only be demolished. Since Reinhard Philipp was not the sole owner of the farm, there were long disputes with the co-owners, Maria Christiane von Schauroth (daughter of Maximilian Alexander von Degenfeld) and court master Frau von Langenfeld, nee. von Degenfeld, who was to blame for the ruinous condition of the farm and should therefore also bear the main construction burden. The dispute dragged on after Reinhard Philipp's death in 1784. Only his son Wilhelm Ferdinand Friedrich came to an agreement with the co-owners, paid them off and built the new estate in Eulenhof in 1793.

Reinhard Philipp Friedrich was buried in the castle church at Neuhaus Castle .
