Reinhard Ploss

Reinhard Ploss (born December 8, 1955 in Bamberg ) is a German manager . He has been CEO of Infineon AG since October 1, 2012 .

Career

Reinhard Ploss studied process engineering at the Technical University of Munich and graduated with a doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) (Title of the doctoral thesis: "Model for contact nucleation through stirrer-crystal collisions in guide tube crystallizers").

Ploss began working for Siemens AG in 1986 as a process engineer for ion implantation in the Munich chip production facility and was soon also responsible for the epitaxy area . In 1992 he moved to the Villach (Austria) location, where he became head of technology in 1993. Initially he was responsible for the transfer of the epitaxial process in Villach, and later also for the coordination of the product transfer. When he returned to Munich in 1996, Ploss was responsible for the power semiconductor business. In 1999, the year the Siemens semiconductor division was spun off, he became head of the Infineon Industrial Power division and managing director of the Infineon subsidiary eupec GmbH Co. KG. One year later, Reinhard Ploss took over the Automotive & Industrial Business division, and in 2005 he took over development, production and operational management of the Automotive, Industrial & Multimarket segment. In June 2007 he was appointed to the Infineon Board of Management for Manufacturing. Later he also became Labor Director and also took over the Research & Development department. Since October 1, 2012, he has been CEO of Infineon. Under his leadership, Infineon took over US competitor International Rectifier for 2.3 billion euros in 2014 and announced in August 2019 that it would also acquire US chip manufacturer Cypress for 9 billion euros. At the same time, he extended his contract until the end of 2022.

Private

Reinhard Ploss, who is involved in model making in his free time, is married and has one child.
