Reinhard Welter
Reinhard Welter (born April 4, 1950 in Wiesbaden ) is a German lawyer and professor emeritus at the University of Leipzig .
After studying law Welter 1981 at the University of Mainz with a thesis on recurring services in civil law and tax law to Dr. iur. PhD. After working as a lawyer, he completed his habilitation in 1992 with Walther Hadding at the Institute for German and International Law of Savings, Giro and Credit Systems at the University of Mainz. The habilitation thesis dealt with real security between harmonization and mutual recognition as principles of the European internal market .
In 1993 Welter accepted a position at Heidelberg University . Just two years later, he accepted an appointment at the University of Potsdam . Since 1998 Welter has held the C4 chair for civil law, German and international business law at the University of Leipzig and director of the local institute for German and international banking and capital market law.
