Walther Hadding

Walther Hadding (born May 8, 1934 in Kassel ) is a German civil law scholar .

From 1953 to 1957 studied Hadding at the universities of Marburg and Bonn law . He was then in 1965 with one of Rudolf Reinhardt supervised work on the actio pro socio doctorate and in 1969 with a thesis on the enrichment settlement in contract to third party rights habilitation .

In 1971 Hadding accepted a position at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , where he taught until his retirement in 1999. In 1984 Hadding was elected Dean of the Law Faculty .

From 1976 Hadding also headed the Institute for German and International Law of Savings, Giro and Credit Systems in Mainz.

Hadding is a founding member of the banking law association and was on the board of this scientific society for many years.

Research and Teaching

Hadding, who did research primarily on banking and corporate law, also contributed to the study commentary and Soergel's comment on the BGB (including association , GbR , fractional community , contract in favor of third parties ).

As early as 1975 Hadding was one of the first scientists to deal in depth with the civil law issues of direct debit .

In 1980 he laid the scientific basis for consumer protection measures in the field of consumer credit in an extensive report on the 53rd German Lawyers' Conference in Berlin .

The Federal Court of Justice (BGH) has adopted its civil law assessment of credit card payments .
