Franz Häuser (born August 14, 1945 in Limburg an der Lahn , hometown Hadamar-Steinbach ) is a German lawyer and was rector of Leipzig University from April 23, 2003 to December 2, 2010 .

After graduating from the Tilemannschule Limburg, Häuser began studying law in Marburg , which he continued at the University of Bonn and finished with the first state examination in 1970. After passing the Second State Examination in Hesse in 1974, he worked as a research assistant and as a research assistant at the Institute for International Law of Savings, Giro and Credit Systems at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . Hauser's work focuses on banking and capital market law . He is a member of the Exchange Council of the Berlin Stock Exchange and was a member of the editorial team of the journal for commercial and banking law (WM, Wertpapiermachrichtungen, Part IV) from 1984 to 2005 .
