The Tilemannschule is a high school in Limburg an der Lahn in Central Hesse . The school was named after the Limburg town clerk Tilemann Elhen von Wolfhagen from the 14th century.
history
The Tilemannschule traces its history back to the year 1903, in which the already existing Limburg Progymnasium ("Gymnasium zu Limburg") was authorized to hold Abitur exams. In 1905 the school was given a new building at the foot of the Limburg Schafsberg . In 1958 the school was named "Tilemannschule". On October 27, 1962, a new building was inaugurated further up on the Schafsberg, which, after two major renovation phases, still houses the school today. During the construction of the St. Hildegard Church , the school also housed its community . At the end of 2003 the Tilemann School celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Abitur.
Regine Eiser-Müller has been the headmaster since October 2001.
General
In addition to the linguistic focus (the students can learn English , Latin , French , Spanish , Italian , ancient Greek and Korean ), a number of working groups (homepage, mathematics, theater, black light theater, football, hockey, table tennis, athletics, rowing, etc.) are offered. The school is a school sports center and bears the title "partner school of competitive sports " awarded by the Hessian Ministry of Culture.
In January 2002 the Tilemannschule was one of the first Hessian schools to be awarded the title School with a focus on music . The numerous choir and orchestra formations at the Tilemann School give many concerts during the school year. The Advent concert in Limburg Cathedral and the summer concert in the Josef-Kohlmaier-Halle should be mentioned in particular . Since 2003, the school profile has included an all-day program with the option of lunch and homework supervision. Since the 2007/2008 school year, students in the new 11th grade can take the Franco-German Abibac Abitur . To do this, they learn the French language more intensively in bilingual courses (geography, history or PoWi) than in scheduled lessons. The possibility of obtaining this Franco-German qualification is only given at a few schools in Germany . Since the 2015/16 school year, the new fifth graders have been able to obtain their Abitur again in the nine-year high school course ( G9 ). Previously, teaching was based on the G8 model.
