Heiko Hoffmann (born August 14, 1935 in Stettin ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 1985 to 1988 he was Minister of Justice of Schleswig-Holstein .

Life and work

Hoffmann first attended elementary school and grammar school in Quedlinburg , but was excluded from further schooling in 1953 because of his activity in the Protestant young community . In August 1953, the family first fled to West Berlin . In 1957 Hoffmann graduated from high school in Limburg an der Lahn . He then began to study law , politics and philosophy in Frankfurt am Main and Marburg , which he completed in 1962 with the first state examination and in 1967 with the second state examination . He then joined the administration of the State of Schleswig-Holstein and was most recently active as a senior government councilor in the Ministry of Education.

Heiko Hoffmann is married and has one child.

Political party

Hoffmann has been a member of the CDU since 1954. From 1958 to 1960 he was chairman of the RCDS in Frankfurt am Main.

In the early state elections in 1988 , he was the CDU's top candidate for the office of Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein. The CDU, badly hit by the Barschel / Pfeiffer affair , had to accept its worst result in 30 years with 33.3% of the votes, while the SPD with its top candidate Björn Engholm was able to achieve an absolute majority with 54.8% .

MP

Hoffmann moved up on January 29, 1973 in the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . From 1979 to 1985 he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group .

From 1988 to 1991 he was again chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and thus at the same time leader of the opposition. In 1992 he left the state parliament.

Hoffmann entered the state parliament in 1973 and 1988 via the state list and otherwise always as a directly elected member of the Eutin- Süd constituency .

Public offices

On December 16, 1985, he was appointed Minister of Justice to the state government of Schleswig-Holstein led by Prime Minister Uwe Barschel . In this function he was also a member of the executive state government headed by Henning Schwarz from October 2, 1987 . After the SPD had achieved an absolute majority in the state elections in 1988 and Björn Engholm was able to form a new government, Hoffmann left office on May 31, 1988.

Later activity

After leaving the state parliament in 1992, Heiko Hoffmann established himself as a lawyer in his hometown Bad Schwartau .
