Karl Eduard Claussen (born September 20, 1930 in Kappeln ; † October 5, 2012 in Bargteheide ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was Minister of Social Affairs from 1971 to 1979, Minister of Justice from 1979 to 1983 and Minister of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein from 1983 to 1988 .

Life

After graduating from high school , Claussen studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg and the University of Hamburg . Since 1952 he was a member of the Corps Teutonia Marburg . He passed the trainee lawyer in 1954 and the assessor exam in 1959 .

In 1959/60 he was a lawyer and notary assessor in Flensburg . In 1960 he joined the administration of Schleswig-Holstein as a government assessor. After the end of his work as state minister, he was admitted to the bar in Bargteheide and practiced as a lawyer from 1988 until his death .

Claussen was born with Helga. Wish married and had two daughters and two sons.

On his 80th birthday he became an honorary citizen of the city of Bargteheide.

Political party

Since 1957 he was a member of the CDU. From 1973 to 1985 he was chairman of the CDU district association Stormarn and was also a member of the state executive committee of the CDU in Schleswig-Holstein.

MP

Claussen was a member of the district council of the Stormarn district from 1966 to 1967 . From 1967 to 1996 he was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament . Claussen was drawn into the state parliament in 1988 and 1992 via the state list , otherwise always as a directly elected member of the constituency of Stormarn or Stormarn-West (1967).

Public offices

From 1962 to 1971 he was mayor of Bargteheide .

After the state elections in 1971, Claussen was appointed Minister of Social Affairs in the state government of Schleswig-Holstein led by Prime Minister Gerhard Stoltenberg on May 24, 1971 . After the 1979 state elections, he was appointed Minister of Justice on May 29, 1979. After Stoltenberg had been appointed Federal Minister of Finance and the previous Minister of the Interior, Uwe Barschel , had been elected as the new Prime Minister, Claussen also took over the provisional management of the Interior Ministry on October 15, 1982. After the state elections in 1983, he was finally appointed Minister of the Interior on April 13, 1983. He retained this office even after Uwe Barschel's resignation on October 2, 1987 in the executive state government headed by Henning Schwarz . After the state election in 1988 , in which the SPD , the absolute majority reached Claussen resigned from the state government on May 31, 1988th
