Klaus Buß (pronunciation: buss) (born March 15, 1942 in Schlawe / Pomerania ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

He was Minister of Agriculture from 1998 to 2000 and Minister of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein from 2000 to 2005 .

Life and work

After graduating from the Jungmannschule in Eckernförde in 1961 , Buß initially did his military service and then studied law in Freiburg im Breisgau and Kiel . From 1972 to 1987 he worked as a lawyer and from 1974 also as a notary in Eckernförde. Since 2006 he has been practicing the legal profession again in Eckernförde.

Klaus Buß is married and has one child.

Political party

He has been a member of the SPD since 1963.

MP

From 1970 to 1984 he was a member of the council in Eckernförde. From 1978 to 1984 he was also chairman of the SPD parliamentary group .

On October 10, 2001, Klaus Buß moved up to the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein, to which he was a member until 2005.

Public offices

From 1987 to 1998 Klaus Buß was mayor of Eckernförde.

On May 5, 1998, he was appointed Minister for Rural Areas, Agriculture, Food and Tourism to the state government led by Prime Minister Heide Simonis . After the state elections in 2000, he was appointed Minister of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein on March 28, 2000. In 2005 he was appointed custodian of medium-sized entrepreneurship for his services to a city-friendly settlement policy. Since the unsuccessful re-election of Heide Simonis on March 17, 2005, he has only been in office as a manager. Since his party friend Ralf Stegner claimed the office of Minister of the Interior, he left the state government on April 27, 2005 after the formation of a grand coalition and the election of Peter Harry Carstensen ( CDU ) as Prime Minister.

Honorary positions

Klaus Buß was a member of the board of directors of Stadt- und Kreissparkasse Eckernförde from 1974 to 1998 and a member of the supervisory board of the non-profit housing company (GWU) Eckernförde from 1979 to 1999 and again since 2007, between 1988 and 1999 as chairman of the supervisory board and since 2007 as deputy chairman of the supervisory board.

From 2006 to 2009 he was chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein Equestrian Association.
