Rudolf Titzck (born February 21, 1925 in Neukirchen / Nordfriesland , † December 16, 2005 in Kiel ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was Minister of the Interior from 1971 to 1979, Minister of Finance from 1979 to 1983 and President of the State Parliament of Schleswig-Holstein from 1983 to 1987 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Flensburg in 1943 , Titzck began studying law and political science in Freiburg im Breisgau , which he had to interrupt in 1944 because he was drafted into the Wehrmacht . After his release from captivity , he resumed his studies at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in 1946 and passed the first state examination in 1948 and the second in 1952 . He then worked as a research assistant at the Lüneburg Higher Administrative Court and then joined the administration of the Duchy of Lauenburg as a government assessor in 1954 . In 1956 he switched to the Ministry of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein as a consultant.

Rudolf Titzck was married and had three children.

From 1966 to 1978, Titzck was state chairman of the CDU Local Political Association in Schleswig-Holstein. From 1959 to 1963 Titzck was a member of the council of the state capital Kiel. From 1975 to 1988 he was a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . From 1983 to 1987 he was President of the State Parliament of Schleswig-Holstein.

Titzck entered the state parliament in 1987 through the state list and otherwise always as a directly elected member of the Plön- Nord constituency . Titzck was sent by the state parliament to the seventh Federal Assembly , which elected Karl Carstens as Federal President on May 23, 1979 , and the eighth Federal Assembly, which elected Richard von Weizsäcker as Federal President on May 23, 1984 .

Public offices

Titzck was mayor and treasurer of the city of Kiel from 1963 to 1969 .

On January 1, 1970, he was appointed State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery to the state government of Schleswig-Holstein headed by Prime Minister Helmut Lemke .

After the state elections in 1971, he was appointed Minister of the Interior on May 24, 1971 in the government now led by Gerhard Stoltenberg . On July 1, 1979, he took over the management of the Ministry of Finance. He initially retained this office under the new Prime Minister Uwe Barschel , but then resigned from the state government on April 12, 1983 after the state elections in 1983.

In addition to his ministerial office, he was the European Commissioner of the Schleswig-Holstein state government from 1976 to 1983 and from March 8, 1978 to July 23, 1980, a member of the NDR Broadcasting Council .
