Heinz Maurus (born April 3, 1952 in Kaufbeuren ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and management consultant . From the local elections in 2013 until the end of 2019, he was district president of the Nordfriesland district . From 2005 to 2012 he was State Secretary in the State Chancellery of Schleswig-Holstein and from 1996 to 2005 he was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament .

Professional and political career

After graduating from high school in 1971, Heinz Maurus joined the German Navy as an officer candidate . Most recently he was head of inspections at the naval supply school in List on Sylt .

Maurus has been a member of the CDU since 1980. From 1992 to the end of 2006 he was chairman of the CDU district association in North Friesland , and has been its honorary chairman ever since. His successor was Member of Parliament of Dithmarschen North - constituency of North Friesland , Ingbert Liebing .

From 1984 to 2003 he belonged to the municipal council of the municipality Sylt-Ost on. From April 23, 1996 until his resignation on April 27, 2005, Maurus was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament . From 1996 to 2000 he was chairman of the Home Affairs and Legal Committee and from 2000 to 2005 Parliamentary Managing Director of the CDU parliamentary group .

For the state elections in 2000 , Maurus was presented in the "leadership team" of the CDU top candidate Volker Rühe for the "Parliament / parliamentary group" complex. If the CDU had won the elections, Maurus should have been president of the state parliament or parliamentary group chairman. The previous government alliance consisting of the SPD and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen won the election.

Maurus entered the state parliament three times in a row as a directly elected member of the regional constituency of South Tondern . In the state elections in 2005, he received 49.0% of the first votes .

Heinz Maurus was a member of the supervisory board of Sylter Bank eG from 1995 to 2018 , most recently as its chairman. Since the end of 2012 he has been working with "Maurus Consulting GmbH" as a management consultant and lobbyist . He is married and has three children.

Public offices

Maurus was mayor of the municipality of Sylt-Ost from 1986 to 1996 and from 1994 to 2003 he was head of the Sylt landscape department .

On April 28, 2005, Maurus was appointed State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery of Schleswig-Holstein by Prime Minister Peter Harry Carstensen (CDU) . After the state elections in 2009 , he was State Secretary for Europe, Foreign Affairs and Federal Affairs and authorized representative of the State of Schleswig-Holstein at the federal government from October 27, 2009 . Since February 9, 2010, he has been a member of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union in its fifth term (2010 to 2014). In 2012, the new state government appointed Minister for Justice, Culture and Europe Anke Spoorendonk ( SSW ) as his successor .

After the change of government as a result of the state elections in 2012 , he resigned from the state service and was elected to the district council of the district of North Friesland in 2013. The district council elected him on June 21, 2013 as district president. At the turn of the year 2019/2020 he resigned from this office for private reasons.
