Roger Asmussen

Roger Asmussen (* 6. September 1936 in Bremerhaven , † 7. June 2015 ) was a German politician of the CDU .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Asmussen, who was of Protestant Lutheran faith , studied economics at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , where he passed the examination to become a qualified economist in 1960. During his studies in 1956 he became a member of the Franconia Freiburg fraternity . After initially working in various companies, he was managing director of the West Coast Association of Companies from 1968 to 1983. Since 2004 he has been chairman of the board of directors of AOK Schleswig-Holstein. Since 2005 he has been Deputy Chairman of the Foundation Council of the Schleswig-Holstein Nature Conservation Foundation .

Asmussen was married and had two children.

Political party

Asmussen joined the Junge Union in 1964 and the CDU in 1968. From 1974 to 1987 he was CDU district chairman in Dithmarschen .

MP

From 1970 to 1978 Asmussen was a member of the district council in Dithmarschen.

Asmussen was a member of the state parliament in Schleswig-Holstein from 1971 to 1988 . He represented the constituency of Dithmarschen-Süd in parliament. From 1979 to 1983 he was deputy group chairman, having been a member of the group's executive committee since 1975. From May 18, 1973 until his appointment to the state government, he was chairman of the finance committee of the state parliament.

Public offices

Asmussen was Finance Minister of the State of Schleswig-Holstein from April 13, 1983 to May 31, 1988 . Since June 9, 1987, he was also State Minister for Economics and Transport.

Since June 23, 2005 Asmussen has been the nature conservation officer of the Schleswig-Holstein state government. On January 4, 2006, he resigned from this office in protest against the nature conservation policy of the grand coalition.

Honors

On October 13, 1978 Asmussen was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
