Claus See

Claus Sieh (born April 17, 1893 in Lütjenwestedt ; † February 5, 1972 ) was a German politician ( DP , later CDU ). From 1951 to 1962 he was Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forestry in Schleswig-Holstein .

Life and work

After high school at a secondary school graduated See an agricultural training and led from 1920 the family farm as an independent farmer . From 1928, Sieh was chairman of the farmers' association in the Rendsburg district and until 1939 also chairman of the board of directors of the state cooperative bank . From 1939 to 1945 Sieh was a district farmer leader.

Political party

See joined the NSDAP on May 1, 1932 . Danker and Lehmann-Himmel characterize his basic orientation at that time as "exposed / National Socialist". After the war, Sieh was initially a member of the DP, but joined the CDU in 1953.

From 1950 to 1962 Sieh was a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . Here he belonged to the DP parliamentary group until April 14, 1952 , and after nine months as a non-attached member, on January 30, 1953, he joined the CDU parliamentary group.

See has always entered the state parliament as a directly elected member of the Rendsburg- West constituency .

Public offices

From 1924 to 1945 Sieh was mayor of his hometown Lütjenwestedt.

On July 28, 1951, Sieh was appointed Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forests in the state government of Schleswig-Holstein led by Prime Minister Friedrich-Wilhelm Lübke . In this office he was also a member of the governments led by Kai-Uwe von Hassel from 1954 ( Cabinet von Hassel I , II ) until he left office on October 29, 1962.
