Emil Schmalfuß

Emil Schmalfuß (born July 30, 1946 in Ihlienworth near Cuxhaven ) is a German lawyer and politician ( independent ). From 2009 to 2012 he was Minister for Justice, Equality and Integration of the State of Schleswig-Holstein .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1966, Schmalfuß studied law at the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau and Kiel . In 1971 he passed the first state examination in law and then completed his legal clerkship in Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony. After passing the second state examination in law, he joined the judiciary in 1974 and initially worked as a probationary judge at the Kiel Regional Court . In March 1978 he was appointed judge there. He interrupted his work at the Kiel Regional Court from October 1984 to June 1985 when he was seconded to the Schleswig-Holstein Higher Regional Court. In 1990 he was appointed presiding judge and in 1995 vice-president of the Kiel Regional Court, from 2004 to 2009 he was its president.

The non-party politician was Minister for Justice, Equality and Integration in the government of Schleswig-Holstein led by Prime Minister Peter Harry Carstensen from October 28, 2009 to June 12, 2012 . His appointment was made at the suggestion of the FDP Schleswig-Holstein .

Following his political career, he became a lawyer in a Kiel law firm.

He is married and has two children.
