Julia Kleiter (born May 5, 1980 in Limburg an der Lahn ) is a German opera and concert singer with a soprano voice .

Life

Julia Kleiter is the daughter of the former national hockey coach Klaus Kleiter and niece of the tenor Christoph Prégardien . She became a member of the Limburg Cathedral Choir at an early age. After she had passed the Abitur examination at the Tilemannschule , she studied at the music academies in Hamburg with William Workman and in Cologne with Klesie Kelly-Moog .

Her first engagement as a concert singer with the Russian conductor Semjon Bytschkow dates back to her apprenticeship . In this context, she went first maid in the opera Daphne by Richard Strauss on several concert tours. A CD was also recorded. With this production, she also traveled to New York City , Washington, DC and the Canary Islands in 2004 .

In June 2004 Julia Kleiter appeared as Pamina in the Magic Flute at the Opéra Bastille . A year later she played the same role again in Paris, this time under the leadership of Marc Minkowski , who also hired her to Madrid. She is also known as the Magic Flute Papagena, which she sang in a joint production by Claudio Abbado and Daniele Abbado in 2005 in Ferrara, Reggio Emilia, Modena and Baden-Baden. In the same year she experienced the audience in Florence as Xenia in Boris Godunow at the Teatro Comunale , under the musical direction of Semyon Bychkov .

Conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt engaged her at the Zurich Opera House . There she sang roles such as Serpetta in Mozart's La finta giardiniera , Pamina in the premiere production of The Magic Flute and Sophie in Rosenkavalier under Franz Welser-Möst . In 2006 she sang the role of Celia in the joint production of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and the Salzburg Festival of Mozart's opera Lucio Silla . In the same year she was also Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro by Mozart in Verona and Pamina in The Magic Flute in Edinburgh, under the direction of Claudio Abbado. At the Salzburg Festival 2006 she was also heard in a concert performance of La Betulia liberata in the Felsenreitschule and in a concert by the Vienna Court Music Orchestra under Riccardo Muti .

In June 2011 she sang the role of Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Opéra National de Paris . In the same month she was also engaged at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin . In July she could be seen in the Styriarte program . In 2012 she was seen again in the role of Pamina in the new production of Mozart's Magic Flute at the Salzburg Festival. Before that she played the role of Zdenka in Richard Strauss' opera Arabella at the Opéra Bastille. She was also heard for the first time in the months of February and March as Almirena in Georg Friedrich Händel's work Rinaldo in Chicago at the Civic Opera House there.
