Reinhard Winterauer

Reinhard Winterauer (born August 1, 1947 in Bad Goisern ) is an Upper Austrian social democratic politician. He is married and has two daughters and two sons with his wife Irmgard.

Education and professional activity

After primary and secondary school in Bad Goisern, he attended the HTL Salzburg, technical college for electrical engineering , for three years . In 1970 he passed the entrepreneurial and license examination for electrical and lightning protection technology. From 1964 to 1970 he worked as a company electrician and from 1980 to 1983 as a technical employee in the Steeg electrode factory.

Political activity

In 1973 Winterauer became a councilor in Bad Goisern and in 1979 the parliamentary group chairman. From April 1983 to October 2001 Winterauer held the office of mayor of Bad Goisern and then from November 2002 to January 31, 2007 he was regional manager of the SPÖ Upper Austria. From 2003 to February 1, 2007 he was a member of the state parliament of Upper Austria. From February 1, 2007, Winterauer was federal managing director of the SPÖ together with Josef Kalina . After the internal party debate about Alfred Gusenbauer and falling SPÖ polls, the SPÖ party presidium announced on June 16, 2008 that it would replace Winterauer and Kalina with Doris Bures . Winterauer was a member of the Federal Council from February 1, 2007 to October 22, 2009 . He was the successor to Federal Councilor Ewald Lindinger, who left on January 31, 2007 .
