Reinhart T. Grundmann

Reinhart Thomas Grundmann (born November 25, 1944 in Preußisch Eylau ) is a German surgeon.

Life

Grundmann attended the Leibniz School (Offenbach am Main) . After graduating from high school, he studied medicine from 1964 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1969 he passed the state examination in Munich. In the same year he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. Approved in 1971 , he began his surgical training with Rudolf Zenker (1971–1973) and Georg Heberer (1973/74) in Munich. In 1974 he switched to Heinz Pichlmaier at the Cologne University Hospital . There he became a specialist in surgery in 1977 . In 1978 he completed his habilitation. Senior physician since 1979, he has received recognition for the sub-areas of vascular surgery (1982) and trauma surgery (1985). The University of Cologne appointed him extraordinary professor in 1988 . From 1989 to 2002 he was head of the medical science department at B. Braun Melsungen . From January 2003 to November 2009 he was the board member and scientific and medical director of the Altötting-Burghausen district clinics . Since 2013 he has been the scientific coordinator of the German Institute for Vascular Medicine Health Research gGmbH of the German Society for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine (DGG). Since 2015 he has been a research assistant at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Vascular Medicine at the University Heart Center Hamburg (UHZ).
