Reinhold Poss

Reinhold Poss (also Poß * 11. September 1897 , † 26. August 1933 ) was a German racing aviator and fighter pilot in the First World War .

Life

When the war broke out, Poss reported to the Imperial Navy . As a pilot and naval aviator, he achieved eleven aerial victories. In May 1918 he became leader of the Seefrontstaffel and in September 1918 of the naval field hunting squadron IV . On October 15, 1918, he was shot down by a Belgian fighter pilot and became a prisoner of war .

After the war, Poss continued to love aviation. Together with Hermann Köhl , he carried out the first night flight between Warnemünde and Stockholm . Poss took part in three air races organized by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale ( 1929 , 1930 and 1932 ).

On August 26, 1933, Poss and his copilot Paul Weirich had a fatal crash after their plane hit a church tower near Neuruppin .

Poss rests in the park cemetery in Berlin-Lichterfelde.
