Reinhold R. Geilsdörfer

Reinhold Richard Geilsdörfer (* 1950 in Boxberg-Wölchingen ) is a German engineer and former university professor . From 2010 to the end of January 2016 he was President of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) and has been the managing director of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation since February 2016, responsible for the foundation's entire university area.

Life

After completing a motor vehicle apprenticeship, Geilsdörfer obtained his Abitur via the second educational path and then studied physics and mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart . After graduating as a graduate engineer, he became a research assistant at the same university. From 1977 to 1981 he was a consultant in the ministries for labor and the environment of the state of Baden-Württemberg. In 1981 he accepted the position of professor and course director at the Mosbach University of Cooperative Education, of which he became director in 2005. Before that he was deputy director there for 10 years. With the establishment of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in 2009, he became rector of the Mosbach location and chairman of the rectors' conference of the new university. In 2010 he was appointed President of this institution, which he headed until the end of January 2016. During his tenure as President, the establishment of an independent DHBW location in Heilbronn, which was later expanded to include the Center for Advanced Studies and which coordinates the DHBW's master’s courses. In this context, Geilsdörfer was investigated for taking advantage; the proceedings have now been closed. On February 1, 2016, Arnold van Zyl became his successor in the office of DHBW President.

Geilsdörfer has been the managing director of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation since February 2016. Before his appointment as managing director and thus during his tenure as president of the DHBW, he already worked for the foundation; A possible violation of the right to secondary employment in this context is currently being examined.
