Reinhold Thode

Reinhold Thode (born February 24, 1940 in Kiel ) is a German lawyer . He was a judge at the Federal Court of Justice from 1988 until his retirement in 2005 .

Life

After completing his legal training and doctorate, Thode initially worked as a research assistant at the “Institute for International Law” at the University of Kiel , before joining the judicial service of Schleswig-Holstein in 1975 .

In 1979 Thode was appointed judge at the Schleswig Higher Regional Court and in 1988 he was elected judge at the Federal Court of Justice. During his entire membership in the Federal Court of Justice, Thode was a member of the VII Civil Senate , since 1996 as its deputy chairman.

There he was the sole rapporteur for all legal disputes relating to international private law from an early stage . Under his reporting, the prospectus liability was developed in the builder models and in the developer contract. He has significantly influenced fundamental decisions to understand the fee structure for architects and engineers as pure pricing law, the decision to understand MaBV as pure trade law and many other decisions.

Upon reaching the age limit, Thode, who was also appointed honorary professor at the University of Konstanz in 1994, retired on February 28, 2005.

Thode has been working as a lawyer in Landau since May 2005 . Since May 2006 he has been available to the Central German Arbitration Court (MDSG) as an arbitrator in construction matters.
