Reinold Geiger

Reinold Geiger (born July 10, 1947 in Dornbirn , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian entrepreneur who is the managing director and main shareholder of the cosmetics company L'Occitane . The Forbes Magazine lists him with a fortune of 1.3 billion dollars as the sixth richest Austrians.

Life

Geiger, the son of a carpenter, completed his degree in mechanical engineering at the ETH Zurich and his master's degree at Insead Business School. After graduating, he founded several small companies in the 1970s, including a tourism company in London.

In 1978 Geiger set up the AMS Packaging Company in Paris, which specialized in the manufacture of cosmetic packaging. He later sold the company for a profit. From 1994 he invested millions in the then still very small cosmetics company L'Occitane and took over the management after it had previously posted ever greater losses. He built the company into a global group with a turnover of 612 million euros (as of 2010) and listed it on the Hong Kong stock exchange in May 2010 .

Geiger is married and has three sons.

On the list the world's billionaires of the Forbes Magazine ranked Geiger in 2016 at No. 1367 with an estimated fortune of 1.3 billion US dollars. He is 6th on the list of the richest Austrians .
