Rice Werder is an island in Lake Tegel in Berlin 's Reinickendorf district . It is 330 meters long and a maximum of 180 meters wide. The surface area is 35,077 m².
The island is supported by a local association of Naturfreunde Baumwerder Reiswerder e. V. 1914 (VNBR) operated ferry. The ferry dock is at the bathing area on the east bank of Lake Tegel.
Although there is no electricity or water supply on the island , there are a number of arbors and a restaurant. A “town hall” serves as an administration building. However, allotment use is prohibited.
The island is part of the LSG-2C Islands landscape protection area in Tegeler See, which was formed in 1960 . Their use is therefore subject to considerable restrictions and in some cases requires special permits from the nature conservation authority, as is the case with bank extensions and the construction of jetties.
