history

Kardex was founded in Switzerland in 1977. The individual parts of the company, however, have much older roots, including the Remington Typewriter Company, which was founded in the USA in 1873 . This merged in 1927 with Rand Kardex Bureau, Inc. and Powers Accounting Machine Company to form Remington Rand . This in turn was taken over by Sperry Corporation in 1955 . In the mid-1970s, the warehouse technology division was spun off and taken over by Kardex.

In 1981, Kardex founded the Remstar subsidiary in the USA , under which it still operates today. In 1987 all holdings in Kardex were consolidated and floated on the stock exchange . In 2001, Kardex acquired the Belgian Stow Group, which specializes in static racking systems.

Kardex Mlog was founded in 1922 by Erwin Mehne as a steel construction company in Heilbronn. From 1968 the then Mehne GmbH also appeared as a provider of complete, automated high-bay warehouses. In 1989 the company was taken over by MAN AG and run as MAN Logistics GmbH . The sale followed in 2005 as part of a management buyout. In the period that followed, the company, now trading under the name MLOG Logistics GmbH, expanded on the European market. In 2009, production and administration were relocated to the current location in Neuenstadt am Kocher. In 2010, MLOG Logistics GmbH was taken over by Kardex Holding AG and integrated into the Kardex Group.

The Averys Group, domiciled in France, took over the Stow division from the Kardex Group on July 31, 2013. Today, Kardex Holding AG consists of the two divisions Kardex Remstar and Kardex Mlog.
