René Gervat

René Gervat (* 1934 or 1935; † November 2017 ) was a French jazz musician ( tenor and soprano saxophone , clarinet ).

Live and act

Gervat played u. a. from the early 1960s in Raymond Fonsèque's band Washboard Five ( Jazz pour Averty , 1961) and with Errol Parker . From the 1980s he was a member of the Ornicar Big Band under the direction of Philippe Laudet , to be heard on albums such as Mais où est donc Ornicar? (1984, with Joe Henderson ), Le retour d'Ornicar (1986), Jazz Cartoon (1989) and L'incroyable Huck! (1991). In his later years he still worked with the pianist Pierre Christophe and performed at the Club Caveau de la Huchette . The discographer Tom Lord lists Gervat in the field of jazz between 1961 and 1996 with six recording sessions, most recently with Jean-Michel Proust ( Harlem Nocturne ).
