René Guhel (born September 18, 1931 in Saint-Nazaire , † August 19, 2011 in Cholet ) was a French football player .

Career

Guhel played in the jersey of SO Cholet before he was signed by the second division SCO Angers in 1948 . There he was a member of the second team and performed so well that he was considered for the UEFA youth tournament in April 1949 at the age of 17 . He was able to win this tournament with the French national team.

For the 1949/50 season he moved up to the professional squad at Angers and made his second division debut. From then on he was regularly called up, but could not fight for a permanent place. Nothing changed until he turned his back on the club at the end of the 1951/52 season and ended his professional career at the age of 20 after 42 second division games with three goals. He returned to the third-rate SO Cholet, with whom he was champion of the regional league in 1953, 1957 and 1958, but without promotion. In 1958 he gave up playing football. He was available as a coach for Cholet in the 1976/77 and 1978/79 seasons.
