René Nünlist

René Nünlist (* 1965 ) is a Swiss classical philologist .

After studying Classical Philology and German Philology at the University of Basel , the Free University of Berlin and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor , he passed the licentiate examination at the University of Basel in 1991 and then worked as a research assistant, later as a lecturer at the University of Basel, where he received his doctorate in 1996 under Joachim Latacz . In the Basler Homer Commentary , which he co-founded , he worked as an employee from 1995 to 1998 and has been available to him as a consultant ever since.

After research stays as a post-doc at the University of Oxford and the University of Amsterdam , he was appointed assistant professor for classical philology at Brown University in 2001 . There he was Assistant Professor of the Humanities to William A. Dyer Jr. from 2004 until he was appointed Associate Professor in 2006. In 2010 he accepted a professorship for Classical Philology (with a focus on Greek Studies ) at the University of Cologne .

His main research interests include early Greek poetry, ancient and modern literary studies, and papyrology .
