René Pawlowitz (* 1975 in Frankfurt / Oder ) is a German techno musician and DJ . He was best known for his publications under the pseudonym Shed .

Life

René Pawlowitz was born in Frankfurt / Oder in 1975, but grew up in Schwedt / Oder . In the early 1990s he discovered electronic music. Through rave , UK hardcore and gabber , he finally came to Chicago house and Detroit techno . Repelled by the increasing commercialization of the techno scene , he stopped buying records between 1998 and 2002 and began producing his own music around 2000.

Pawlowitz moved to Berlin in 2002. In 2003 he founded his own music label Soloaction Records there , on which his first record was released in 2004 with the Red Planet Express EP under the pseudonym Shed . This was followed by further releases on Soloaction Records and on the Amsterdam label Delsin Records. On the side he worked temporarily in the record store Hard Wax . Since then Shed has performed regularly as a DJ and live act in Berlin's Berghain, among others .

In 2008 the Shed debut album Shedding The Past was released on Ostgut Ton . At the De: Bug readers' poll in 2008, the record took second place in the vote for the best album of the year . The Traveler followed two years later , also on Ostgut Ton. This album was also voted one of the best records of the year by the readers of De: Bug, this time at number 5. In addition to the releases as Shed , numerous EPs were released under other pseudonyms such as EQD , STP , Wax , Head High , The Panamax Project , Sigg Gonzalez , War Easy Made , WK7 or The Traveler .

Together with Modeselektor and Marcel Dettmann , Pawlowitz has appeared sporadically under the project name ATOL since 2011 .

In 2012, Shed's third album The Killer was released on the fashion selector label 50Weapons .
