René Urbany

René Urbany (born February 7, 1927 in Oberbesslingen ; † October 10, 1990 in Luxembourg ) was a Luxembourg politician (KPL) and journalist . He was the son of Dominique Urbany .

Life

Urbany became a member of the Central Committee in 1948 and a member of the Politburo or Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Luxembourg in 1952 . From 1946 he worked as an editor at KP-Zentralorgan Zeitung vum Lëtzebuerger Vollek and was director of the party's own printing company COPE ( Coopérative Ouvrière de Presse et d'Editions ) from 1969 . From 1966 to 1979 and again in 1988/89 he was a member of the Luxembourg City Council. From 1975 to 1990 he was also a member of the Luxembourg parliament and group spokesman for the KPL. In 1976 he succeeded his father and became chairman of the party. He held this office until his death.
