Renate Carstens

Renate Carstens (until 1987 at times Renate Eisengarten , born September 12, 1938 in Gera ; † January 5, 2019 ) was a German linguist , university teacher and Indonesian .

Life

Renate Carstens passed the Abitur examination in 1957 and studied Slavic and Indonesian studies from 1969 to 1973 at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . In 1976 she graduated with a thesis on the Indonesian language, in 1980 followed the Habilitation . In 1990 Renate Carstens was appointed university professor for oriental linguistics / Indonesian studies. In the 1990s she headed the Department of Oriental Linguistics at the University of Jena. In 2003 she retired.
