Renate Damm (cyclist)
Renate Damm (born January 11, 1947 in Berlin ; † June 27, 2012 ) was a German racing cyclist .
Renate Damm started cycling in June 1963 at ASG Strausberg and was delegated to TSC Berlin because of her talent . Later she started for the BSG Lok Oberspree . From the end of the 1960s to the beginning of the 1970s, she was one of the dominant cyclists in the GDR on track and road . From 1968 to 1972 she was GDR road racing champion five times , the first time in 1968 after a solo journey of 40 kilometers. From 1970 to 1972 she was GDR champion in the 500-meter time trial , after having finished third in 1969. In the single pursuit , she was twice (1970, 1971) champion and twice (1968, 1969) vice-champion as well as 1970 and 1971 champion in the sprint .
Professionally, she worked as a foreign trade clerk in Berlin.
Renate Damm died after a long and serious illness.
