Renate E. Meyer

Renate Elisabeth Meyer (* 1963 ) has been University Professor for Public Management and Governance at the Vienna University of Economics and Business since 2010 and the author of several books, numerous articles and contributions to specialist literature. Meyer has headed the Institute for Public Management and Governance since 2005 and the Research Institute for Urban Management and Governance since 2010 . Since 2009 she has been teaching in a visiting professorship at Copenhagen Business School .

In addition to her research and teaching duties, Meyer has headed the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) since July 1, 2011 .

Career

After graduating in 1989 (Mag. Rer. Soc. Oec.), Meyer took on an assistant position at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (1991–98), interrupted by stays abroad at McGill University ( Montreal ) and the University of Technology, Sydney . In 1995 she was awarded her doctorate with distinction (Dr. rer. Soc. Oec.). From 1998 to 2003 Renate Meyer held a visiting professorship at the WU Vienna at the Institute for Public Management . In 2004 she received her teaching license (venia docendi). Between 2007 and 2008 she held brief visiting professorships at Curtain Business School in Perth and Stanford University .

Research interests

Renate Meyer conducts research in the field of neo-institutional organization theory , examines the effect of global management theory on the local context, deals with the measurement of individual and organizational performance within the framework of European unions and, in particular, examines new public management . In the context of these activities she uses methods of business administration, controlling and organizational research . As part of this research, Meyer deals with modern urban management and the challenges that cities face as a result of changes in the political and social environment, technology and the economic environment ( STEP analysis ).
