Renate Wald

Renate Martha Emilie Wald (born July 29, 1922 in Leverkusen , † August 12, 2004 in Wiehl ) was a German sociologist .

From 1974 until her retirement in 1987, Wald was professor of sociology at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . Her professional focus was "professional socialization ". She mainly dealt with the biographies of girls and women and worked on feminist sociology from an early age .

Wald was the daughter of the high Nazi functionary Robert Ley . In her memoirs "My father Robert Ley - my memories and father's story" , she dealt with her family origins.

The Renate Wald Foundation, founded in 2005 and based in Bonn , is named after her .
