Renato Lessa (* 1954 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian political scientist and has been President of the Brazilian National Library Foundation since 2013.

Career

Lessa received her PhD in 1992 from the Instituto Universitário de Pesquisas do Rio de Janeiro (IUPERJ). He is Professor of Political Theory at the Universidade Federal Fluminense .

In March 2013 he was appointed President of the Brazilian National Library Foundation (Fundação Biblioteca Nacional, FBN) by the Minister of Culture Marta Suplicy , succeeding Galeno Amorim . Here he is taking on the task of implementing a controversial restructuring program for the Brazilian National Library (BN). As president of the foundation, he is also involved in the presentation of his country at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2013 and in 2014 at the Göteborg Book Fair , in which Brazil is also a theme country.
