Former Methodist Church on Main Street

Renfrew is a village on Connoquenessing Creek in Penn Township , Butler County , Pennsylvania , United States . It was founded in 1882 by David A. Renfrew on his own grounds. Shortly afterwards, oil was found in the area around the village, so the village was quite lively. There was a gas station, a post office and several shops, among other things. The shops are now empty, and the Methodist Church has also been sold. In September 2004, the foothills of Hurricane Ivan flooded the village.

Renfrew is served by two railway lines. The Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad uses the Pittsburgh and Western Railroad (later Baltimore and Ohio Railroad ) route from Pittsburgh via Butler to Foxburg . The Canadian National Railway uses the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad main line between Lake Erie and North Bessemer . The stops on both routes have been closed for a long time.

The Interurban Pittsburgh, Mars and Butler Railway connected the place with Pittsburgh and Butler.
