renk. ( Turkish for color ) is a German-Turkish online magazine with a focus on art and culture . The platform deals with the life of the new and young German-Turkish coexistence and uncovers German-Turkish "exceptional circumstances".

renk. According to its own information, it is the first German-Turkish cultural magazine with a high design standard to convey a mediation contract beyond the current German integration policy . It shows that exceptions are the rule, sees itself beyond the cliché of the “showcase Turk” and, since the beginning of 2013, has portrayed people and projects that fall into the field of design and culture. It understands creativity as a transmitter of identity and culture.

renk. was brought into being by the editor Melisa Karakuș as part of her bachelor thesis in the communication design department of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences . According to its own statements, the online magazine pursues an authentic approach that defines itself as limitless and cosmopolitan . The individual portraits are made available online and thus create a public platform. In addition, interviews and photo reports, video and music contributions are regularly published online. A team of volunteers, mostly with a migration background, supports the editorial work. The main editorial office is in Berlin, another branch in Cologne. There are also a few employees throughout the Federal Republic.

Awards

In June 2013, the renk.-magazine won the title Kultur- und Kreativpiloten Deutschland 2013 with its concept from the federal government for culture and creative industries. Subsequently, in March 2014, the platform was invited to a discussion group on the way to get together in Café Kotti in Berlin-Kreuzberg with Federal President Joachim Gauck and then to Bellevue Palace . At the beginning of October 2014, renk. Part of the Germany-wide Google campaign Germany25 . The project shows what moved young Germans 25 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall in society and what made them happen themselves. Shortly afterwards, in November 2014, the online magazine won a scholarship program for social startups and was based in the Social Impact Lab until the end of May 2015 . Since June 2015 the magazine has been based in the Blogfabrik , a creative coworking space in Berlin-Kreuzberg . Blogfabrik publishes the online magazine Daily Bread Mag , in which renk. to be published.

On November 26, 2015, the magazine was awarded 2nd place at the KAUSA Media Prize 2015 in the multimedia category. This is awarded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research .
