Gareth Fry
Gareth Fry (born 1974 ) is a British sound designer .
life and work
Fry initially trained as a recording technician before deciding to study at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He developed the sound design for various plays, including:
- Shun-kin (Direction: Simon McBurney , Complicite, Setagaya Public Theater, Tokyo, 2008 and Barbican, London, 2008)
- Richard III by William Shakespeare (Direction: Sam Mendes , Old Vic Theater , London, 2011)
- The Master and Margarita by Michail Bulgakow (Direction: Simon McBurney , Complicite, Barbican, London, 2012 and Festival d'Avignon , 2012, Wiener Festwochen 2012)
- Let The Right One In (Director: John Tiffany , Apollo Theater, London, 2014)
- David Bowie Is (V&A Museum, London, 2013 and Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin, 2014)
We have worked closely with director Katie Mitchell since 2007 . Gareth Fry created the sound design for the following of her productions:
- The Trojans by Jean-Paul Sartre after Euripides ( Royal National Theater , 2007)
- Request concert from Franz Xaver Kroetz ( Schauspiel Köln 2008 and Berliner Theatertreffen 2009)
- Miss Julie after August Strindberg (Direction: Katie Mitchell and Leo Warner, Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz Berlin 2010)
- Wastwater by Simon Stephens ( Royal Court Theater London and Wiener Festwochen 2011)
- The Rings of Saturn by WG Sebald (Cologne Theater and Festival d'Avignon 2012)
- Journey through the night according to Friederike Mayröcker ( Cologne Theater 2012, Berlin Theatertreffen and Avignon Festival 2013)
