Rennigishausen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rennigishausen (also: Rennigishusen ) desert was a settlement in the Middle Ages in what is now the area of the town of Heusenstamm in the Offenbach district in Hesse .

At that time the village was located between the Heusenstamm, which was founded later, and the former Patershausen monastery an der Bieber . According to the historian Karl Nahrgang , the village became desolate after the monastery was founded in 1252, as the residents had settled at the monastery. In 1210 a donation of the place to the monastery Patershausen is mentioned and in the year 1220 Rennigishausen is mentioned as property of the monastery Lorsch . Rennigishausen belonged to the parish of Mühlheim am Main . Politically it was in the Maingau and economically it belonged to the Bellinger Mark .

In 1385 a mill in Rennigishausen is mentioned, but the place seems to have been desolate back then. This mill was mentioned again in 1576 and probably existed until the 18th century.

Information board next to the foundations of the mill

In April 2009, the excavation of the foundation walls of this mill in the so-called Mühlwäldchen began by the district monument curator . Shards from the 15th and 16th centuries were also found. In September 2010, a new quarry stone bridge was built next to the former mill and a plaque with the history of the mill and the village was inaugurated.
