Renua Ireland is a Conservative party in Ireland founded on March 13, 2015 by three former Fine Gael MPs. In the elections for the Dáil Éireann in 2016 , she got 2.2% of the vote, which was not enough for a parliamentary seat.

history

After the parliamentary elections in 2011, Lucinda Creighton , who was a member of Fine Gael , became Minister for European Affairs. In a 2013 vote on abortion, she defied the party line and voted against the law. She was then expelled from the party along with several other MPs. They then formed a loose alliance called the Reform Alliance .

On March 13, 2015, Renua Ireland was founded under the leadership of Creighton.

For the general election in 2016, the party hoped to be able to put up 50 to 60 candidates, at least one per constituency . She eventually presented 18 candidates. It published a party program in January, the main points of which were a flat tax of 23% and a three strikes law .

In the election, Billy Timmins , Terence Flanagan and Lucinda Creighton lost their parliamentary seats, and the party did not get a single seat in the Dáil Éireann . The party received 2.2% of the vote.
