Diego Fiori

Diego Fulvio Fiori , simply known as Diego Fiori (born October 20, 1975 in Rome ), is an Italian video artist , director and film producer . His short film "The Words Hear the Light" was presented out of competition at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and received the Bronze Award for Filmediting at the American Movie Awards .

biography

Diego Fiori studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma and at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera with Luciano Fabro . He also took courses with Giorgio Agamben at the University of Venice . Fiori took up Luciano Fabro's thesis that artists convey experience without preconceived conceptual categories. From this point of view he approached the theater , the work of Carmelo Bene and the anthropological paradigm of Ernesto de Martino. These influences, which he transferred to the film and reinterpreted, are also reflected in the theoretical attitude that he gives to the documentary director . The poetics of Pedro Costa , Jean-Marie Straub , Danièle Huillet , Vittorio De Seta , Michael Glawogger and the friendship with the Italian documentary filmmaker Luigi Di Gianni are of particular importance for Fiori . His dissertation “Il potere sui corpi, la potenza del corpo. L'arte come forma di resilienza ”was published in 2015 under the title“ Do you know the people are missing? - On the concept of resilience ”in the journal“ Texts: Psychoanalysis. Aesthetics. Kulturkritik ”published. He has been working with the magazine ever since.

In the field of video art he made his debut in 2009 with the Trilogy of Silence (Donate Silence, Birth and Death of Alter Ego e Last Classical Kiss ). This work was awarded the Silver Prize at the Laznia Center for Contemporary Art in Poland and subsequently performed at numerous film and art festivals. From 2007 to 2010 he worked in the Faculty of Social Anthropology at the University of Cassino . From 2010 to 2012 Fiori was an assistant at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Frosinone in the field of sculpture.

Fiori was involved in the shooting of the documentary "The Children of the Noon", which was presented at the 2016 St. Louis International Film Festival in the USA . A reduced version of the documentary was broadcast as part of the Doc3 format on the Italian television channel Rai 3 on August 31, 2017.

He has been a member of the Associazione Italiana Scenografi Costumisti Arredatori since 2017 .
