The Reo Pargial (also Leo Pargial , Reo Purgyil and Leo Pargil ), with a Tibetan name in China Nyaingoparge Ngale ( Chinese 列俄帕尔格阿勒 峰 , Pinyin Liè'épà'ěrgé Ālè Fēng ), is a mountain in the Western Himalayas on the border between the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh and the Ngari administrative district of the Tibet Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China .
The name of the mountain means "rock demon". With a height of 6816 m , it is considered the highest mountain in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The upper course of the Satluj runs along the southern flank of the Reo Pargial , into which the Spiti , which drains the northern flank of the mountain, flows 12.5 km further south-west . 2 km south of Reo Pargial is the slightly lower Peak 6791, a famous twin.
The 6,791 m high summit was first climbed from the west on August 10, 1933 by Marco Pallis and Charles Warren . The 6816 m high summit was first climbed in 1971 by an expedition of the Indo-Chinese border police.
