The United Workshops of Reps & Trinte Kunstanstalt, United Workshops of the Schultz Brothers, Berlin, Joh. Val. Vanni, Frankfurt a. M., A. Trinte, Neustadt Magdeburg, Carl Koch, Magdeburg , Reps & Trinte for short , were a German manufacturer of art objects that existed in Magdeburg from 1889 to around the end of the 1920s .
history
The "Kunstanstalt" was founded by the businessman Carl Reps and the sculptor A. Trinte in Neustadt-Magdeburg . The Museum of European Ceramic Art assumes the year 1889 was founded. In 1896 they moved into the newly constructed building at Morgenstrasse 5. Behind the window-rich facade they ran workshops for plastic art in elongated workrooms . The company dealt with the "production of ancient and modern sculptures of marble, ivory , plaster and clay ", "painting in Parisian and Viennese decor, as well as bronze imitations on clay or hardened plaster". Other items were polished wooden pillars,Consoles , terracotta figures and columns in cast marble.
Sculptors such as Paul Aichele , the brothers Friedrich (Fritz) and Hans von Heider, Etha Richter , Blasche and Ludwig Eisenberger provided designs .
As a result of the change in taste after the First World War and the Great Depression , the demand for the work of the "Kunstanstalt" fell dramatically, whereupon the company had to be abandoned. In the 1930s, Carl Reps had the workshops converted into simple apartments.
