Career

Cho Dong-geon learned to play football in the school team at Iri High School and the university team at Konkuk University in Seoul . He signed his first professional contract with Seongnam FC in 2008 . The club from Seongnam played in the first division, the K League 1 . In 2010 he won the AFC Champions League with the club . In the final in Tokyo on November 13, 2010, they won 3-1 against Zob Ahan Isfahan from Iran . For Seongnam, he completed 88 first division games. In 2011 he moved to Suwon Samsung Bluewings in Suwon . From 2014 to 2015 he was loaned to Sangju Sangmu FC from Sangju . The club is a sports division of the South Korean military. Therefore, the franchise roster consists of young professional football players who are currently doing their military service. Approximately 15 new players join the franchise each year and stay there for two years before going back to their previous franchises. Due to the franchise's military status, it is not allowed to sign foreign players. For Sangju, he completed 33 games. After the end of his contract in Suwon, he moved to Japan in February 2017 . Here he signed a contract with Sagan Tosu . The Tosu club played in the country's first division, the J1 League .

National team

Cho Dong-geon played three games for the South Korean national soccer team from 2009 to 2013 . He made his international debut on August 12, 2009 in a friendly against Paraguay at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul .
