The Resaca de los Cuates is a river in Cameron County in the US state of Texas in the United States . It rises three miles southeast of San Benito and two miles west of Russelltown . It flows in a northeast direction, where it flows northeast of Port Isabel-Cameron County Airport into Laguna Madre . The length of the meandering river is nearly 100 kilometers (62 miles ).

The Resaca de los Cuates flows through mostly flat terrain with loamy soil or sandy loam. The vegetation lining the river consists mainly of cacti and bushland. At the end of its course, the river crosses Bayview .

The name Resaca de los Cuates ( Cuates , Spanish for "twins" or "good friends") comes from the fact that the river used to be divided into two courses.
